I'm going to lean towards probably, but til I can see the visitor stats for today I won't really be 100% sure and even then I probably won't know.

Looking at the visitor stats for the sub-domain it looks like there really were that many.

Were they bots? I get a lot of bots visiting my web sites.

Not 100% sure, but its very likely since we've never had that many on the site at one time before.
