Title: Forum Updates
Post by: Sean on February 08, 2009, 04:00:50 PM
Avatar images can now be up to 128x128 pixels.  If you have already uploaded yours it was re-sized down to about 64x64.  If you wish it to be larger you will need to re-upload it.  Sorry for the inconvenience, but I only just found the correct setting.
Title: Forum Software Upgraded
Post by: Sean on February 08, 2009, 08:03:35 PM
It was a headache, but I managed to get the forum software upgraded to the latest version.  Now to install some fun extras  ;D.
Title: Time Zones
Post by: Sean on February 08, 2009, 08:12:25 PM
I've added a feature that lets you select your time zone now instead of figuring out your time offset from the server.  This unfortunately probably reset your time setting.  To select your time zone go to the Profile tab then click on the button on the left side that says "Look and Layout Preferences".  Under time format you will see an option called "Select your Timezone".
Title: Dowloads Tab
Post by: Sean on February 08, 2009, 08:44:26 PM
I've added an area to upload files for others to download.  I've added a category for Karaoke Songs so far.  If more are needed and it doesn't let you add categories just let either me or one of the moderators know.
Title: What features do you want?
Post by: Sean on February 08, 2009, 08:53:08 PM
Is there a feature you want to see on the site?  Post what you are looking for here.  If its reasonable and the mod exists I will do my best to get it installed.
Title: Gallery
Post by: Sean on February 08, 2009, 09:20:41 PM
We now have a picture gallery you can upload pictures to.
Title: Profile Comments
Post by: Sean on February 09, 2009, 01:34:41 AM
I've added the ability to leave comments on people's profiles.
Title: Email Links/Staff List
Post by: Sean on February 16, 2009, 07:19:45 PM
Email links replaced with links to a form on the site to send an email.  Added a staff list page acessable via a link on the top of the site between members and gallery.
Title: Calendar Repeating Events
Post by: Sean on February 16, 2009, 07:36:55 PM
We now have the ability to post repeating events to the calendar.  There is a chance this may not work as the mod I installed hasn't been updated in a while, so if you encounter any problems please let me know.
Title: Font Color/Face/Size in Posts
Post by: Sean on February 16, 2009, 07:39:21 PM
Not a recent update and if you have posted you probably have seen it.  There are now drop down menus for selecting font color (in addition to the color selection bar), font face, and font size for your posts.
Title: Shoutbox
Post by: Sean on February 16, 2009, 08:09:18 PM
We now have a shoutbox.  Have fun everyone!!
Title: Streaming Music
Post by: Sean on February 17, 2009, 06:42:07 AM
I have added a music player in the top right of the site that is visible when logged in.  It will be set to stream the karaoke stream during karaoke events.

Note to DJs: For this to work you will need to provide me with the url of the stream you will be using.

We now have a new image gallery which also supports audio and video files.  In addition to the general catergories that I created you can also create user galleries for your own stuff.  This looks to be a much better system than the one I had installed originally.  Hope you all enjoy it.

Since the new gallery system allows for uploading audio and video files keeping both is sort of redundant, so I have removed the download system.  If it is needed again in the future I will add it back.  If you had uploaded anything to the downloads tab you will need to re-upload it to the gallery.  I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
Title: Custom Profile Fields
Post by: Sean on March 01, 2009, 10:54:11 AM
There are 2 new fields in your profile.  One for a link to your Singsnap recordings and one for a link to your Sims on Stage recordings.

For now the "direct links" listed in the gallery are not working due to the way the server is currently configured.  I am looking into this, but for now to send a link to an item in the gallery just copy the url out of the address bar in your web browser.

Post by: Sean on April 01, 2009, 03:13:07 PM
I have removed the custom profile field for linking to your Sims On Stage accounts since The Sims On Stage no longer exists.
Title: Custom Profile Fields
Post by: Sean on April 09, 2009, 02:47:29 AM
I've added "Occupation" as a profile field and am open to suggestions on other profile fields.  Send all suggestions to me as a PM.  If I get a lot I'll create a poll and we can vote on the ones we want.

Edit: You can use BB code in all three of these fields.
Title: Re: Forum Updates - New Features
Post by: Sean on April 23, 2009, 01:01:57 AM
There is now a reply button next to each post instead of just the ones at the top and bottom of each page.

I am also limiting the number of guests that can access the site at once to 10 in order to hopefully reduce bot traffic (no this is not currently a problem, but it could be one day) and encourage people to register.

Updated the forum software from v1.1.8 to v1.1.9.
Title: Re: Forum Updates
Post by: Sean on October 20, 2009, 07:06:47 PM
We've been running v1.1.10 for a little bit now with no problems.  I've also installed a few new mods to the site that add the following features:
A "New Topic" button is now available while viewing an existing topic.
A field to enter a reason for editing a post.
While logging in you will be notified if Caps Lock is enabled while entering your password.
You can now only make a search once every 10 seconds.
The members list can now be sorted to view only people in a certain position.

I've also added a donations page which can be reached by clicking the "DONATIONS" link to the right of the "CALENDAR" link in the link bar above.  Donations will be used to help offset the cost of running the site and if enough is received I'll be able to purchase the www.urukaraoke.com domain.  Fees are due in January, but I wanted to get a head start so I wouldn't be caught at the last minute.  I will post a goal as soon as I know how much will be needed and will update the total donated on a regular basis.  Remember donations are purely optional.

I have updated the gallery from version 1.5.6 to version 2.0.  The "direct links" still appear to not be working and I am looking into this, but at least for me the embedded media players for audio and video files are working properly and they weren't working at all before.

Title: Karaoke Card Submission Page
Post by: Sean on November 07, 2009, 10:09:29 AM
As you have probably noticed I've done some tweaking to the karaoke card submission pages and I've fixed some errors in the coding so its now all valid HTML and will eventually be XHTML.

Edit: It is now valid XHTML.

Title: Re: Forum Updates
Post by: Sean on January 09, 2010, 11:55:07 AM
I removed the shoutbox as well as the profile comments mod as they weren't being used.  I also removed a couple small mods that I didn't see the need for anymore.  I also unfortunately have had to remove the ability to post recuring events in the calendar as it was causing problems with dislaying events on the main page of the forum as well as causing errors to happen.  I didn't want to have to do this, but I wanted to see that error go away before upgrading the forums to version 2.0 and hopefully will be able to find someway of doing this again in the future.  Note: To get the errors to go away I may have to remove all existing recuring events from the calendar.  I will post here if I have to.

Edit:  I'm going to have to remove the repeating events from the calendar.  There are 3 of them and if I don't they will appear to occur everyday.

I am preparing to upgrade the forum software to 2.0 RC5.  I hope to do this within the next week or so.  A few of the smaller mods I currently have installed are not compatible with 2.0, but you shouldn't notice the loss of functionality as they did very little things some of which isn't even noticeable to you.  The biggest thing you will have to do after the upgrade is re-enter the information for your custom profile fields as this mod is not compatible with 2.0 as 2.0 has custom profile fields built into it by default.  Sorry about this, but there is no way around it.  The media gallery is fully compatible with 2.0 and you should not see any big changes there.  I will post here and send a message out when I'm about to do the update as the you will not be able to access the site during the upgrade which could be for a few hours though I hope it won't take that long.

We are now running V2.0 RC5 of the forum software.  You will have to re-enter some of your profile information including ocupation, URU Live Avatars and KI Numbers, SL Avatars, and the link to your Singsnap recordings.  You can do this by going to "Profile" then "Modify Profile" and then "Forum Profile".  You are also going to have to reset your time zone offset.  The default time zone for the forum is the same as SLT.  You can do this by going to "Profile" then "Modify Profile" and then "Look and Layout".  Then click "auto detect" and then "Change profile".  There are a lot of new features in 2.0 and now that we are running the current version of the forum software I hope to find some new mods to install that might make the site even better.

I updated this field to better match the other image links in your profile. It now only requires you to enter your SingSnap username and the link will take people straight to your profile there. You should not need to edit your profile as a result of this.

Edit: I also removed AIM, YIM, and MSN from profiles as they no longer exist.

Some big updates will be coming soon. First, I will be replacing the gallery system with a newer more up to date and less buggy one. Not that the current one is bad, but since it has not been updated in well over 10 years now it does not fully work anymore and generates a lot of errors since it is using some unsupported code in addition to still using flash in some places. After this is done and working I will work towards updating the forum software from 2.0.x to 2.1.x so that I can keep it up to date with the latest bug and security fixes as 2.0.x will more than likely not receive anymore updates. I do not have an exact timeline for this yet as it will happen when I get the time to do it, but hopefully in the not too distant future.

I have decided to do both of these upgrades at once and have gotten together everything I think I will need to do the upgrades. I will get to this in the next few weeks hopefully. There will be a couple current mods I have installed that will have to go away as they do not exist for V2.1.x of the forum software, but for the most part it is little things that can be lived without.

We are now running version 2.1.3 of of the forum software. In addition I have upgraded us to a more modern media gallery system. The only issue I have seen so far is that you might need to re-upload your avatars. I will attempt to fix this for those who have not logged in in a while in the future, but for now re-uploading is your best option. If you see any other issues please let me know and I will do my best to fix them.

SingSnap at some point changed how profile URLs work and they no longer are based around your user name. As a result, to have an accurate link to your SingSnap profile from your forum profile here, you will need to change your SingSnap username name in your profile to your SingSnap user ID. Your user ID is found in the URL when viewing your profile. For example mine is 896057.

You probably know this but links to the Gallery from previous Karaoke cards, in the archive, no longer work; probably due to the update.

Correct. Old links will no longer work as this gallery is completely unrelated to the old one.
